Topshop Unique showcased their Autumn Winter collection at the Tate Modern which is a fitting location for the post-modern brand, the set up was fairly simple in a grand high ceilinged room and a typical up and down catwalk which made the show easy to follow (Was it just me or did anyone else think the Balmain x H&M show back in October was super confusing?) and let the clothes speak for themselves.
Topshop Unique’s AW16 woman is a glorious juxtaposition, she’s sophisticated by day but becomes a punky vamp when the sun sets. The models were adorned with sheer skin tight leggings, animal prints, leather, houndstooth patterns, bright laces, chunky luxury furs, velvet dresses (as seen on the beautiful Taylor Hill). The makeup was a clash between serene nudes and bright fuchsias for lips and most models sported inky black winged eyeliner that was all very rock ‘n’ roll.
In short AW16 for Topshop was a sophisticated and sexy affair and I already know that I want half of the catwalk looks some of my favourites include the aforementioned Velvet dress worn by Taylor Hill, a very chic but seductive 80’s Look on Lineisy Montero, that black fur coat on Sam Rollinson is to die for and a cool ornately designed sequinned skirt (the draped fur for me just completes the look)
On the FROW:
Anna Wintour who is a sure staple at any fashion show was joined by models of the moment Karlie Kloss, Suki Waterhouse, Lara Stone and Jourdan Dunn. Also present was renowned photographer Nick Knight of SHOWstudio.com
