Well well well Autumn has reared her head and it’s getting chillier by the day, also as we are edging towards awards season and away from the blockbuster bonanza that is summer October is a little bit of a dry patch in terms of volume of films, but I guess it’s all about quality and not quantity that counts!
The Girl on the Train – 5th October
I think literally everyone read the book that this movie is based on when it first came out, well perhaps except me but I am currently 142 pages in, I have paused momentarily as I think I might watch the film before finishing the rest of the book so that I go into the movie without knowing the twists and turns. The premise is very Gone Girl (another book to film adaptation that I’ve watched but not read) but thats not necessarily a bad thing as the David Fincher directed adaptation was a fantastic ride so I must admit that through those comparisons I have got very high expectations for The Girl on the Train.
Doctor Strange – 25th October
I think we all knew this film would be on my most anticipated list, to be honest it is perhaps my most anticipated film of the year!! That’s quite the statement really so I really hope the film delivers what I think it will which is great acting, an interesting (and perhaps a mind F*** of a) storyline, fantastical visuals and a better filmic villain role for Mads Mikkelsen (lets face it if given the chance Mikkelsen would have made Le Chaffre ten times the villain he was in Casino Royale, and how do I know this? One word…Hannibal). And when I heard that we here in England were getting the film on the 25th and not the 28th I actually cheered…out loud…in public😳.
So these are the two films I’m counting down the days to this month, let me know in the comments section which movies your anticipating the most this October.
