January is the reset button each year that gives us the hope that we can change our lives for the better. It’s the time to make those Goals for 2018 that you will conquer throughout the year and take a closer look at yourself to see what you love about your life and what you can change.
Personally, the things I love about my life at this present moment aren’t numerous, if anything there isn’t much in my current life that I adore, but I think that is down to the fact that I am still finding my footing in this world and I’m still trying to figure out what I want from life. But on a positive note, I feel like this year will be a year of reflection and one to propel me to make some massive changes that will lead me to find things that I love and that make me want to get out of bed in the morning and conquer the world.
Here are my Goals for 2018!
Practise Yoga More Often🧘
Yoga is perhaps the best workout for someone like me, I have a short temper, I’m always tired and I’m not really that flexible. I sound like the exact antithesis of what Yoga represents…and that my friends is the reason why it’s perfect for me! If I stick to a regular routine throughout this year (and beyond) I can exercise both my mind and my body and sculpt them into things I can be proud of. I can banish my tendency to get angry so quickly by practising the mindfulness and breathing techniques Yoga employs. Regular exercise boosts energy levels and muscle tone and memory so the more I do it the less tired I will be and the fitter I will get!
🚀It’s not Rocket Science at all!!!🚀
To fulfil this plan I am going to start practising at home, which means that I can do it whenever it suits me and I don’t have to worry about making mistakes in front of others because let’s face it, we all get embarrassed from time to time even if we know deep down inside that mistakes don’t really matter as everyone has to start somewhere. My resources will be my trusty Reebok Yoga Mat, Yoga with Adriene and this Old school Yoga Collection DVD.
Become Fluent in French 🇫🇷
I love languages and the process of learning them, I’ve been learning French on and off for a while but now that it is part of my degree (English Lit and French) I really feel like I need to push myself to learn the language fully, hence why becoming fluent is one of my Goals for 2018. So the plan is to study the set work from my course but to also read French language books, listen to French music and watch Film and TV Shows too. It is said that immersion is the best way to learn a language, so apart from moving to France, this is the best I can do.
Learn Korean 🇰🇷
One of my biggest goals in Life is to learn as many languages as possible. Languages are something that has fascinated me for years, I love the process of learning them and the fact that as a result, you can communicate with a whole new group of people around the world. So after I master French, I want to learn Korean. The reason why I chose Korean is partially down to watching too many Korean Drama’s and Films but also from looking into the culture and the structure of the language. Hangul is one of the youngest alphabets as it was invented the 15th century. What makes Hangul such a fascinating alphabet is how logical it is, words come together like little puzzles and the shapes of the consonants mirror the movement of your mouth which is really quite ingenious.
Seeing as becoming Fluent in French is arguably the priority in terms of getting my degree I will be a little bit more casual with learning Korean. So in my spare time, I’ll watch Korean dramas and films and listen to Korean music which has already helped me pick up some phrases as it is. Let’s see how much more I can learn this year!
Watch Less TV 📺
It’s no secret that I watch too much TV, most nights I will sit down and watch 3 or 4 episodes of a TV show. So my aim is to reduce that to either 2 episodes a night or having two days a week where I can watch TV shows and the other days I’ll do something else that is productive. However, I am allowing myself to watch French-language TV shows whenever as that will help me with my studies. I just need to work on moderation and I’ll have a lot more productive time on my hands.
Be an Early Bird 🦅
I often find myself going to bed far too late and either sleeping in late on my days off or struggling to get out of bed when I have work. It’s a cycle that I’ve been trying to stop for a very long time so I hope that this year I can challenge myself to finally fulfil the task. On all accounts getting up earlier would benefit my everyday life, I would have more time to get ready in the morning, even to the point that I would actually be able to have breakfast!
Okay, so that’s the goals I have set myself for this year! I’m really excited about 2018 as I feel like if I stick to my goals I can really find myself getting closer to the lifestyle I want to lead and hopefully, I’ll become a happier and healthier version of myself in the process.
