The song opens with a cute Ice Cream jingle that morphs into the rest of the music which is a funky beat and synth orientated pop track that is perfect for a summer day. It’s a cute love song if you look closely at the lyrics and Junho makes comparisons to flowers blooming and melting Ice Cream as metaphors for new love and impatience and the need for something a little sweet. Also, I must say that Junho has good taste in Ice Cream as in the hook of the song he rambles of some delicious flavours ‘Vanilla, banana, cherry, pistachio, choco almond’ (except for Banana!!). Personally, my fave flavours of Ice Cream are Vanilla as you can’t go wrong with a classic and Pistachio all thanks to a holiday in Italy a few years back.
The music video is a pastel summer dream! Shot in America it’s a cotton candy coloured adventure through the streets of LA and the inside of an all-American diner and laundromat. Junho goes from completing a complex and visually cool dance routine to eating ice cream and then being totally cute.
It’s been a while since I’ve listened to Fall Out Boy but, I actually really quite like this song, It has a good message in the chorus and it’s a little rockier than some their other stuff. I used to be obsessed with this band back in School I listened to their albums from Take this to your Grave up to Folie a Deux but when their last album came out I didn’t really get into it so hopefully, MANIA will bring me back to Fall Out Boy. Another band that I was totally obsessed with as a Teenager was 30 Seconds to Mars (kind of did and still do have a massive crush on Jared Leto!) who I personally still love and listen to all the time and I’m patiently waiting for the next album.
