2016 is almost over but in a last hurrah some really great movies are coming out this December so check out my most anticipated movies for the festive season.
Star Wars: Rogue One – December 15th
Everyone is looking forward to this film, It’s a prequel to the original trilogy that takes a look into the mission to steal the death star plans, funnily enough I remember when I watched A New Hope and we learnt very briefly about a brave group of rebels that stole those very plans I thought that would have made a good movie!! Well I guess others did too and so here it is. The cast looks fantastic, the set pieces look cool and fresh and it just looks like a film that isn’t just being created to bring in money it feels like this was a story that belongs in the Star Wars canon.
Passengers – December 21st
I am a massive Sci-Fi film fan so I was initially intrigued by the concept of this film, however as more and more trailers get churned out I am beginning to feel like the narrative may or may not have been executed in the best way. Essentially this looks like it will be a popcorn sic-fi action flick whereas when I first heard about the project I thought it would be a much smaller scale production, something that analyses human nature more and a film that would be a little more like the claustrophobic feeling of 2015’s Ex_Machina. But hey some points look really good like Michael Sheen’s bar tender android who vaguely reminds me of the bartender in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shinning (Anyone else getting that creepy vibe?) and the shots of space which is crazy beautiful and especially when you realise how amazing modern CGI is. So for me this film could go either way but I am still looking forward to seeing it.
Collateral Beauty – December 26th
Damn I’m still really looking forward to this movie as if feels like the perfect blend of heart warming yet tear jerking cinema. The concept is very much a spin on A Christmas Carol wherein the protagonist played by Will Smith is visited by personifications of Death, Time and Love rather than ghosts of Past, Present and Future. This in my mind will be a film to make you realise how wonderful life is and how to be grateful for what you have, fingers crossed that it delivers.
Let us know in the comments section which films your most looking forward to this month too!!
